March 2026

Hello, my dear friend,

Spring is here, the magnolia tree has bloomed and the flowers are already mostly faded… I took a lot of photos and sketched, so I can make a magnolia pattern. For now, however, I'd like to show you two patterns with a textured background.

I find myself often trying to integrate texture in my work. I like to build it stroke by stroke and follow the movement of my subject.

Here the birds are vector, but the background is pixel. I'm happy with the overall cut-out shape effect

You can find all my patterns through Spoonflower and Redbubble.

I'm also working on a pattern collection based on a Romanian folk tale. It's about a king who has a wonderful apple tree, but can never taste the fruit, as every year, just before they ripen, someone comes in the night and steals them all. I think I will share those patterns once the collection is complete.

Sketchbook

I finished another of my small square sketchbooks and did a bold move: I switched to an A4 sketchbook! The experience is very different. I'm generally not comfortable drawing on a big surface, I prefer the small details on a small page. But I will of course continue with it and see what comes of it.

My studio room is also in a state that I am very happy with. I have my desk space, book shelves, a comfortable arm chair to read in…

Here’s a photo of me and Luther under the Magnolia tree.

Have a wonderful start to the spring!

As an illustrator and pattern designer, I believe in the power of imagery to bring joy.

My work centers on hand-painted repeating patterns, inspired by the fantasy and magical realism stories I love to read.

I work in both traditional and digital mediums.

Long walks with my little dog are one of my favorite pastimes.

If you're interested in collaborating on a project, feel free to reach out and ask about my availability.
