The Prince and the Golden Apples

This collection is inspired by the Romanian fairy tale Prâslea the Brave and the Golden Apples, my favorite bedtime story as a child. Prâslea is the name given to the youngest son and in this story he is the one who manages to stay awake and catch the thief of the golden apples.

This collection depicts the world of the enchanted royal garden: golden apples stolen in the night, arrows loosed into darkness, crows watching from crimson branches.

The prints carry the feel of something half-remembered. Brocade-deep florals, folk tile geometry, castle turrets stitched in earth tones like something seen from a long way off. The palette moves from midnight blue to forest green to the warm amber of harvest and the blush of orchard trees in early bloom — rich, but never loud.
